Cookery Demos, Classes and Open Days
Cast iron ovens use radiant heat which is kind to food, locking in moisture, goodness and flavour. Join us for one of our events and experience this first hand, with all important samples to prove it!
Open Day
2025 Dates TBC -10am to 3pm -Free
Drop in any time during the day for a hot drink, toasted treat and a chat, with mini demonstrations around 10.30am and 12.30pm.
Come and see our range of fully controllable electric AGA cookers, including the sleek modern glass AGA ERA, retro style Rayburn Ranger as well as the Rayburn "HVO Ready" Heatranger cooker boiler.
This is a great opportunity for new and existing owners to ask the M & J Abbs Team and the talented AGA demonstrator Na Hansell any questions, as well as a chance to pick up new recipes, hints and tips for cast iron cooking.
There will be exclusive on-the-day offers on new appliance sales and ex-display models.
Although you can drop in any time it would be helpful to know if you are able to join us so we can ensure we have enough tasters to go round!
Cookery Demonstrations
Saturday Mornings - 10am to 12pm -£35 per person.
A more in depth look at a particular cuisine with local chef and Rayburn owner, James Claydon.
Join us for a morning packed with flavour, cookery tips and tricks, new techniques, a variety of new skills and a couple of very tasty dishes to try at the end of it.

Saturday 16th November 2024 10am to 12pm
Slow Cooked Ossobuco
with gremolata and risotto milanese.
During this demonstration we will be looking at slow cooking within the Aga or Rayburn plus cooking the perfect Risotto.
Osso buco (a cut of shin meat cooked on the bone) in garlic, anchovy, celery and vermouth, served with a saffron risotto (Milanese), gremolata (garlic, parsley and lemon) and pan fried courgettes.
Winter Cookery
Saturday 7th December 2024 - 10am to 12pm - £35
AGA Demonstrator Naomi Hansell will host a live winter cookery demonstration including Italian roast porchetta, mushroom wellington and burnt basque cheesecake. With Christmas on the horizon they'll be plenty of chat and opportunity to ask questions ahead of the big day, as well as more generally celebrating over the Christmas period on the AGA or Rayburn.
All cookery demonstrations are £35 per person per demonstration (see details below); all Open Days are free.
